Japanese Knotweed, Invasive Weed Control & Eradication

Japanese Knotweed is not toxic to humans and other fauna however it is the most invasive plant species in Britain. Japanese Knotweed can cause damage to hard engineered structures such as concrete, tarmac, brick and foundations. GEMCO can undertake schemes to help eradicate Japanese Knotweed. Japanese Knotweed treatment includes screening, mechanical grinding, chemical spraying of topsoil and incineration of Japanese Knotweed fragments. The mechanical screening can separate any stems, rhizomes and roots from the topsoil, hand picking can also be used when necessary. Japanese Knotweed is classed as ‘controlled waste’ and therefore requires disposal at an authorised landfill.
